Snake

This picture shows few of the many rocks found in the canyon. These rocks can be considered a habitat for snakes. A habitat is the natural environment of an organism; place that is natural for the life and growth of an organism. I found this definition on dictionary.com. Snakes like the rocks because the like cold wet places.

Wild Turkeys

These are wild turkeys. They are one of the many animals found within the canyon. An animal is any member of the kingdom Animalia, comprising multicellular organisms that have a well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond rapidly to stimuli. Trails

This picture shows the entrance to one of the many trails found in Palo Duro Canyon. As you can see they have made it so that it is easy to enter. With each trail they have signs that tell you about the trail and the dangers that may occur on the trail.

Rock

This pictures shows how big some of the rocks can be in the canyon. I was very shocked by how big the rock actually was. It sits right beside the road, so when you drive by it is really close and huge!

The sky

This is a picture of a distant view of the canyon. When I took this I really thought that the sky looked beautiful. It made a great picture!

River

This shows the river that runs through the canyon. It can at times overfill onto the street like in this picture. It can be a great source of water for the animals and plants within this ecosystem. An ecosystem is a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their environment. I got this definition from dictionary.com.

Soil

This picture shows the many layers of earth found in the canyon. This can be used to show how long the soil has been there. It can also be used to carbon date the soil and to see how long it took the soil to form.

Cave

This is a picture of a cave within the park. This can be used as a niche for bats. A niche is an ornamental recess in a wall or the like, usually semicircular in plan and arched, as for a statue or other decorative object. I got this definition from dictionary.com.

Plants and Trees

This shows a part in the canyon that has a lot of plants and trees. Plants are any of various photosynthetic, eukaryotic, multicellular organisms of the kingdom Plantae characteristically producing embryos, containing chloroplasts, having cellulose cell walls, and lacking the power of locomotion. This is a picture of a sign when you enter Palo Duro Canyon. Palo Duro Canyon is also known as "The Grand Canyon of Texas". The park was opened on July 4, 1934.
